Course Description
This course provides the learner with a foundational understanding and importance of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The source of information in this course is derived from U.S. government sites, and it describes the differences between HIPAA Privacy and Security, the regulatory standards to define compliance with HIPAA, and the impact on all healthcare venues. The learner will be provided information on methods of how to prevent disclosure of private healthcare information, and the appropriate steps to take if a violation occurs.
